PICK NO. 01 · OCTOBER 2026 · WHAT'S NEW
What's new in October 2026: EDC, bags and nomad tech
By Setup nomad
THE SHORT ANSWER
In October 2026, Setup nomad opened its catalog: more than a hundred items to carry, charge, listen and write with. Daily routine added the On Speed Pack 30L bag, the Peak Design MICRO Plate, the Keychron K3 HE keyboard in Japanese layout, the CMF Clip Pro open earbuds and the CMF Watch 3 Pro. For the season, start with the bag that faces the rain, the hot drink for the commute and the light that fades at the end of the day.
October settles the return to routine for good. The days grow shorter, the rain returns on commutes and the everyday bag takes on one more layer. It is also the month this site began: the starting catalog and the first additions to the routine are therefore all dated October. This page keeps a few of them, with their use and what to check, then points to all the items added this month.
THIS MONTH'S GUIDE
Advice for the season.
The bag facing the rain
A water-repellent fabric makes a shower slide off; it does not make a bag waterproof. Look at the zippers, the base and the laptop pocket, and keep a cover or a pouch for what must not get wet.
The hot drink for the commute
An insulated bottle keeps heat in, a single-wall metal cup does not. Check the lid, how you drink while walking and how it cleans: a lid that is hard to take apart ends up in a cupboard.
The fading light
At the end of the day, the street darkens earlier. A small keychain light helps find a lock or the bottom of a bag. Look at the low mode, not just the maximum figure, and how it recharges.

On
Speed Pack 30L
Thirty liters claimed, a laptop pocket and side pockets for bottles: enough to leave in the morning with a change of clothes.
To checkVolume says nothing about how it is distributed. Check the size of the laptop pocket and the width of the side pockets.

CMF
Watch 3 Pro

CMF
Clip Pro
Open earbuds with a claimed total battery life of 32.5 hours with the case, and support for the LDAC codec.
To checkThe open format does not isolate: poorly suited to a noisy train or a quiet open-plan office. LDAC depends on the phone.

For a narrow desk
Keychron
K3 HE Wireless Magnetic Switch Keyboard (Japan JIS Layout)
A 75% wireless keyboard, connected via Bluetooth to three devices, with an adjustable actuation distance and a deliberate Japanese layout.
To checkThe JIS layout is confusing on a computer set to AZERTY: tall Enter key, different punctuation. Choose it with that in mind.

Peak Design
MICRO Plate
An Arca-type plate for a slim body, which slides into a Capture mount in two directions and keeps a loop for a wrist strap.
To checkIt must not cover the battery door or the lens mount of your camera. Also check the tightening tool.

Apple
AirPods Pro 3
Active noise cancellation, Transparency mode and up to 8 hours of claimed listening, in a MagSafe case with USB-C.
To checkTry every ear tip size before judging the isolation. They are less useful outside the Apple ecosystem.

Bellroy
Venture Sling 9 L
Nine liters claimed and two opposing zippers: a sling for your phone, a light layer and the small items of the day.

Nitecore
TINI3
A 20 g keychain light, USB-C rechargeable, with a choice of tint, from warm white to cool white.
