One plug, the whole desk

Flat or upright on its stand, the Satechi ChargeView 240W, an American brand, takes up little space: 11 cm long and 680 g. In the morning, the laptop plugs into port C1 or C2, the phone into a nearby port, the watch and headphones further away. The LCD screen displays the power being delivered to each port, making it clear whether the device is actually charging or just maintaining its battery. In the evening, everything can be unplugged in one motion, without dismantling a pyramid of power bricks.

What power distribution changes

The six ports do not each deliver 240 W: the total power is shared among connected devices. The first two ports deliver up to 140 W each, the next two up to 100 W, and the last two up to 30 W. When a new device is added, the charging power is redistributed and may briefly pause. This is an important consideration before purchasing: in a fixed setup, it is barely noticeable; on the go, with only one device to charge, a simpler charger would suffice. The fanless GaN design keeps it silent, which matters next to a microphone or a shared workstation.

Who it’s for

It fits well on a desk where a laptop, tablet, phone, and a few accessories coexist, and where visibility of charging status is useful. It also suits those who frequently host guests and need to charge visitors’ devices. Conversely, for a carry-on bag, its weight and bulk are drawbacks: a two-port charger would be more practical. As a gift, it suits someone who has just set up a permanent workspace and complains about a lack of outlets, or during a new setup or return to the office.
